The SUN-SNO-GUIDENANO Sustainable Nanotechnology Conference 2015 is a forum for nanotechnology researchers, industry, and regulators to present and discuss research findings on the interface between nanotechnology and a sustainability. Conference was held from Monday, March 9 - Wednesday, March 11 2015 in Venice, Italy. The conference addresses the critical aspects of sustainable nanotechnology such as life cycle thinking, safe production and regulatory and industrial decisions. (http://www.susnano.org/conferenceOverview2015SNO-SUN-GN.html) NTUA through the Research Unit of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology (R-Nano) participated in the Sustainable Nanotechnology Conference with a poster presentation about the new sustainable precursors for the production of carbon fibers, acknowledging the FIBRALSPEC project. The workshop ‘FROM MATERIALS TO ELECTRO-OPTICAL DEVICES’ was held in Athens, Greece, on the 17th of February 2015 and was co-organized by FIBRALSPEC at the School of Chemical Engineering in National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The event was a joint effort between Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research and NTUA, in which participated 10 high-level speakers presenting materials with advanced electrical properties, new production technologies and applications. There was a separate part dedicated to the properties of carbon fibres. FIBRALSPEC participation in the workshop successfully indicated the need for improvement of materials, pointing out the impact of carbon fibers in all innovative aspects of materials and industrial new perspectives. National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) had the chance to disseminate FIBRALSPEC Project’s message by attracting the interest of scientists from multidisciplinary fields, representatives from academia, research organizations and general public. FIBRALSPEC Participants During the Workshop, FIBRALSPEC was represented by the following members of NTUA group: A. Charitidis, Professor and Coordinator Koumoulos Koklioti Anagnou POLITO group: Alberto Tagliaferro, Professor, Politecnico di Torino, Italy THALES group: Paolo Bondavalli, Head of Nanomaterials Group, THALES Research and Technology, France All participants had fruitful discussions with other participants of the workshop, had the change to exchange ideas and learn further potential technological applications of carbon fibers. They had the chance to visit our facilities and they identified the wide need for innovative materials in many applications. Photos from Workshop
FIBRALSPEC participation in Industrial Technologies 2014 (booth #41) successfully indicated the need for improvement of materials, pointing out the impact that carbon fibers have in all innovative aspects of materials and industrial new perspectives. NTUA had the chance to disseminate FIBRALSPEC Project, attracting the interest of scientists from multidisciplinary fields, representatives from the industrial sector, academia, research organisations and representatives from European Commission, media and general public.
